PARTY & MEDIA ROOM CEILING, OXFORDSHIRE

A fabric ceiling project which not only solved an acoustical issue by hiding the acoustic boarding in fabric but also truly complimented the designers vision and space. Set in such a beautiful part of the world (I could be biased - The Cotswolds is home for me). Working for designers Rose + George alongside J.Rigg Construction and AV Team Homeplay. Watching this space transform over time was truly a feat of engineering.

Covering over 130 square metres of ceiling in 150 metres of fabric. 300 metres of self made double piping. Harriet from Rose + George choose a heavy weighted linen from Zak + Fox for me to take up the 6 metre high scaffold tower. The barn ceiling was split into two halves with 4 large segments to cover. Fabric is stitched into ‘one piece’ and fixed in place to cover each of the 4 segments with the centre apex’s running down the middle completed last.

What can I say, Hepzabeth it literally Superwoman! She single-handedly covered the whole ceiling, which is 6m off the ground at the pitch and 22m long by 8m in width, in beautifully heavy linen. Everyone on site was in awe of how on earth she managed it! But she did and her attention to detail and workmanship is second to none.

We wanted a fabric ceiling to help with the acoustics and sound proofing of the room (the fabric covers some special acoustic boarding). This is not only a great acoustic solution but also looks beautiful, giving a very large room a sense of coziness and warmth. We wouldn’t have achieved this using any other finish.

Hepzabeth is also a pleasure to work with, and super professional. She makes sure that all the details of the project are considered, coming for site visits before starting to ensure all is in place and coordinating excellently with the build team.

We will look to add fabric walls/ceilings to many projects now as we are delighted with the result. Thank you Hepzabeth!
